What is psychological treatment?
Psychological treatment involves working with a qualified clinician on emotional, behavioural or mental health concerns. The focus, approach and number of appointments depend on your needs, the clinician’s scope of practice and any applicable referral or funding arrangement. Qxplore’s psychological treatment services include treatment by registered psychologists and psychological associates, and work by registered psychotherapists and social workers under psychological supervision. Ask who would provide your care, their designation and how any supervision applies to your particular service.

Not necessarily. Explain your concerns and the reason for any referral. Qxplore can discuss whether treatment can be considered directly or whether an assessment is appropriate for the questions involved.Do I need a diagnosis to ask about treatment?
You can enquire without deciding on a diagnosis. Describe the difficulties you are experiencing and any information you already have. The clinician can discuss suitability and next steps. Will I see a psychologist?
Ask who would provide the particular service, their current professional designation and whether any supervision arrangement applies. The available clinician depends on your needs and the current service arrangements. Is psychological treatment the same as psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy may be an approach used in psychological treatment. The appropriate service, provider and treatment plan depend on your concerns and the referral or funding context. Ask how the option offered to you differs from Qxplore’s general counselling services. Can WSIB or insurance pay for treatment?
Qxplore describes treatment through several funding arrangements. Coverage and any required authorisation depend on your specific claim or benefits plan. Confirm with the funder and Qxplore before appointments begin. How long does treatment last?
The number and frequency of appointments vary with the goals, clinical recommendation and any funding approval. Discuss the proposed plan and when it will be reviewed before you begin. Are appointments in person or online?
Ask which formats are currently available for your clinician and service. An insurer or agency may also have requirements for how appointments are delivered. What should I have ready when I contact Qxplore?
A brief description of your concerns and any referral, insurer or program information is a good start. Ask how to provide sensitive documents securely if they are needed.Take the next step
